It carries his staff, his secret service team and his press pool. The Vice president has flown in it. The First Lady has flown in it. But the president has never, but if you go looking for the rule that keeps him from getting on it you’ll not find one. In this video we are gonna look at how the tiltrotor works, with two engines tied together by a shaft through the wing, nacelles that swing a full 90 degrees. We will also talk about the one thing that its rotors sacrifice, that every other helicopter keeps. We will touch on how the pentagon tried to can the program, the test crashes that nearly ended it and the requirement that is silently dropped during this whole process. From there we go inside Marine Helicopter Squadron One: the "white tops" that carry the President and the dark-green Ospreys that carry everyone else. We follow the Navy's own 2013 announcement, the gearbox gear that cracked from a microscopic impurity in its steel, and the years of warnings that came before it. We put the Osprey's record next to the helicopters around it, walk through what the GAO and the Navy found in 2025, and show why the presidential fleet runs on a very different kind of risk math.
