Production on it ended in 2012 and the fleet was capped out years earlier, the air force was basically begging Congress to let them retire the oldest jets. Then, in February 2026, suddenly Lockheed Martin put a model on the floor of the Air and Space Forces Association's Warfare Symposium that had stealthy fuel tanks and infrared sensor pods hanging under the wings and only a month later a Raptor was spotted flying with these very same hardware. This video will explore the upgraded F-22 bit by bit, the advanced sensor pod that gives the Raptor finally a way to infrared search and track that it was promised it would have from the start.
