That’s roughly the distance from London to New York! 🐕 Its purpose is connected to one of Australia’s most famous wild animals: the dingo. Dingoes are wild dogs about the size of medium-sized domestic dogs, capable of running up to 60 km/h (37 mph). They hunt kangaroos and smaller animals 🦘 But in the late 18th century, European settlers arrived in Australia and brought sheep, giving dingoes a new food source 🐑 Farmers tried protecting their livestock with traps and guns, but sheep losses kept growing. So they started building fences to keep dingoes away from sheep farms. Existing fences were improved, extended and connected into one massive barrier, known as the Australian Dingo Fence or Dog Fence, separating sheep country from much of Australia's dingo population. #australia #dingofence #dogfence #longestfence #dingoes #kangaroos #australianwildlife #wildlife #worldgeography #ecosystem #learning #geography #map #history Mon, 26 Oct 2026 08:04:29 GMT https://validator.w3.org/feed/docs/rss2.html PeerTube - https://tube.blueben.net https://tube.blueben.net/client/assets/images/icons/icon-96x96.png https://tube.blueben.net/videos/watch/1fcde9eb-8aab-48a0-a145-5b555ef5f5b8 All rights reserved, unless otherwise specified in the terms specified at https://tube.blueben.net/about and potential licenses granted by each content's rightholder.
